Corporate retreats

The conversations that don't happen in a meeting room

A private estate for the offsites that are supposed to change something.

The argument

Nobody has ever bonded over a coffee break

You know how the standard offsite goes. A function room. A projector that takes eleven minutes to connect. Sandwiches at one. Everybody back on their laptops by three, and a hotel lobby full of other people’s conferences.

The honest, uncomfortable thing about team offsites is that the valuable part almost never happens during the sessions. It happens at 10:40 at night, when the formal part is over, three people are still up, and somebody finally says the thing they’ve been thinking for six months.

You cannot schedule that. But you can build a weekend where it is likely.

A fire, a pool, a games room and the fact that nobody can leave does more for it than any facilitator.

The shape of it

A two-day retreat, hour by hour

Day one

  • 11:00 — Arrive, drop bags, coffee on the terrace
  • 12:30 — Lunch outdoors
  • 14:00 — Session one: the honest state of the business
  • 16:00 — Break. Swim. Nobody checks Slack.
  • 17:30 — Session two: outdoors, on the lawn, standing up
  • 18:20 — Sunset, and everybody stops for it
  • 19:30 — The grill. Somebody takes over the smoker.
  • 22:00 — The fire, and the part that actually matters

Day two

  • 07:00 — Whoever runs, runs. Whoever swims, swims.
  • 08:30 — Breakfast together
  • 10:00 — Session three: decisions, not discussion
  • 12:00 — Close, and the drive home while it is still fresh

Your Reserve Host will build this around your actual objective — including bringing in a facilitator, a private chef, or a team activity, if that is what the two days need.
